Amazon GPSR requirements: what to submit in Seller Central for EU stores
Amazon applies the GPSR to non-food products in its EU stores. This page sums up what Amazon itself has published — its announcement to sellers and its developer documentation — and links each point to the source.
What Amazon asks for
From Amazon’s GPSR announcement:
- EU responsible person: contact details of an economic operator established in the EU.
- Manufacturer: contact information, plus importer details where relevant, both on the product and in the listing.
- Traceability: a product identifier such as a type, batch or serial number.
- Warnings and safety information: on the product and in the online listing.
- Images and safety documents for the product page.
Amazon splits the work by role. Brand owners verify compliance, enrol in Brand Registry, appoint a responsible person and show the details on product pages. Resellers verify compliance and provide responsible person and manufacturer information, product pictures and safety information.
Where to submit it in Seller Central
Use the Manage your compliance dashboard and its Add compliance information widget. Amazon says the responsible person and manufacturer information, images and safety documents appear on the product page within 24 hours of confirmation. To take a product off sale instead, use Manage Inventory or FBA.
Feeds and the Selling Partner API
If you list through feeds or an integration, Amazon’s developer documentation names these attributes (Listings Items API or the JSON listings feed):
| Attribute | What it holds | Level |
|---|---|---|
gpsr_manufacturer_reference.gpsr_manufacturer_email_address |
the manufacturer’s email address | ASIN |
dsa_responsible_party_address |
the responsible person’s email address | SKU |
gpsr_safety_attestation |
true only if the product is exempt | — |
compliance_media |
documents such as safety information, user manual or instructions for use, with a language code and a URL | — |
Three practical rules from the same page:
- Enter the manufacturer’s and the EU responsible person’s contact details in Seller Central first; the attributes point to them by email address.
- Document links must not point to Google Drive or Dropbox.
- A full update through the legacy XML feeds overwrites GPSR information uploaded in Seller Central, so integrations should send partial updates.
The stores named are Germany, France, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, Belgium, Sweden and Poland.
UK and Northern Ireland
Amazon says that for listings on the Amazon UK store you do not need to submit GPSR information. The EU rules apply in Northern Ireland.
If the information is missing
Amazon says non-compliant listings risk removal and become ineligible for flash sales.
Checklist
- Appoint an EU responsible person — compare published provider prices.
- Collect the manufacturer’s postal and electronic address.
- Prepare warnings in the language of each store; the GPSR label generator also gives you text for the listing.
- Submit through Manage your compliance, or use the attributes above for feeds.
- Add the national registrations each store needs — see our country guides for Germany, France and Spain.
Not sure which EU rules apply to your product? Run the compliance checker.
